“I recently had the pleasure of diving into “LightSongs,” and I must say, it offers a unique soundscape that stands out in the realm of New Age music. Malou’s vocals have a special texture and depth, capturing the listener’s attention and guiding them through a serene journey. The track “Yana Yana” especially caught my ear. There’s an ethereal quality to it that exemplifies the meditative essence of the entire album. It’s always a treat to come across music that pushes boundaries while staying true to its core. “LightSongs” does just that. Congratulations!”

About the LightSongs

One by one, the beautiful LightSongs entered my life. A song could appear anytime and anywhere. I could be out walking the dog, hiking in the woods, taking a swim, on a bike ride, in the hot tub, in the car, up in the mountains, alone or among other people. When the LightSong just came to me! Whether the timing was good or bad, it tapped me on the shoulder, demanded my attention and sang within me until I recorded the melody on my mobile. Only then did it fade away and I was able to continue with whatever I was doing before.

My task seemed easy; receive each song, and dress it in an appropriate musical attire, record it and release it. While some LightSongs are like gentle and peaceful beings, embracing me and my ideas, others come with thunder and demand change and control down to the smallest note all the way up to the final mix. If a LightSong and I disagree on some detail, then I must give in. Every time. A LightSong always gets what it wants!

Common to all LightSongs, however (and here we are in total agreement), is that they love vocals. There should be as many voices as possible and then some …  Voices that sing in unison, opposite each other or in canon. Open the flood gates! And of course, all the LightSongs got their way. Anything else would have been unthinkable.

The imaginary language

It started just for fun when I was composing songs for my album Hoya (the first album with my imaginary language, Pleiadian). I began to write down imaginary words and saw them evolve into sentences. It felt like I’d helped give life to a new universal language.

I didn’t plan to make up a new language. It seemed it already lived in me and then grew by itself. I just followed the flow, surprised, and intrigued.

It is an imaginary emotional language made up of words that have no real meaning. Which allows whoever is listening or singing the songs, to interpret and imagine what the lyrics mean. Or just rest in the songs and let the words float away …
